Default Novation twitch - my thoughts

    My 2 cents/first impressions...

    Pros:
    1. Portable, integrated, all-in-one solution, for controllerists or DJs that don't want platter control.
    2. innovative features like the touchstrip and MLR-like control over audio.
    3. probably rock solid build quality and stable software
    4. at $500 street it's like a cheaper, smaller S4

    Cons:
    1. the supplied itch software has only 2 decks and no dedicated sampler
    2. plus no dedicated looper which all keeps it from being a flexible performance tool.
    3. touchstrips would probably be more useful vertical than horizontal
    4. the pads seem like the ones for the launchpad which means they're probably not velocity sensitive
    5.looks a little ugly

I thin we can credit Tekki for that whole Slicer talk.

needs proper 4 channel mixer (4 sets of eq etc)... otherwise, it looks really sweet... especially at that price! makes the S4 seem pretty pricey imo

You get TP2 with the S4, add that to the cost and it's a fair comparison.

Default Front Page: New Novation Controller!

    Hey Guys,

So the new novation looks great to me! Except for one key feature, I miss the jog wheels. Anyone have any thoughts on it? Granted I know a lot of you don't want jogs on a controller, but I personally love mine.

This is also going to take an interesting turn with the people who always look down upon MIDI controller-ists just because at least in the past the midi controllers have had jog wheels. Now with none, there is no resemeblence at all to "traditional DJing".

This is NOT a thread about traditional DJs vs Midi DJs (or however you want to phrase it). This is a thread about what YOU think of the new Novation.

its weird to see a serato itch brand controller with no jog wheels. Ill like to get my hands on this to see what its all about.

I love the fact that it seems to have a replaceable crossfader in it. That's a key feature, and it seems a bit ridiculous that NI left it off the S4.

I think the controller itself is nifty and priced right at 499.00 with a soundcard. But with all the build up for Itch -- there's nothing really special about it. I expected more.

I don't think it not having Jogs is a big deal. I personally prefer jogs but TONS of traktor DJ's out there play with an analogue mixer and 1 or 2 X1's. No Jogs. The build of this thing kinda reminds me of that. An X1 type controller with Volume and Cross fader.

It's cool for 499.00....but that's about it. I'm guess if Itch ever gets Ableton Bridge implemented using this plus and ableton controller would make for a sweet set.
