All you really need is the Arduino, buttons, pots, encoders, any other basic sensors, LEDs, a breadboard, various resistors to get started. Then start with tutorials on this website http://www.arduino.cc/en/Tutorial/Button. Additionally, the Arduino forums contain almost any question you could possible have with schematics and example code. If you have micro controller coding experience I would say you are off to a great start. Learn how to connect pots and leds and make them do what you want and then start implementing MIDI out/Traktor integration. I've learned a TON in just a few months and was able to build a basic functioning controller
