    Default Turn 2 LPD8 into a MidiFighter (leds working)

    It's done, MidiFighter on two LPD'8 with working LED's.
    All Pads are set Momentarly. No cheap Toggle-On Trick.

    Cause i love the MidiFighter & the Mapping, i decided to convert it to my old two LPD8.
    When you add following Commands to your MidiFighter-Mapping, you could use it, like the MidiFighter.

    Well the case is that on the LPD8 Led Out won't work properly, so i never made a "serious" mapping. I decidet to use the LPD8's for FX1-4, and to monitor events. Like Phase_Monitor; BeatPhase_Monitor; MasterClip, Pan; DeckFocusSelect and so on.
    But now i figured out how to Trick the LPD8 out, and make LED OUT work, without BomeMIdi, MidiJoke and so on (also not properly but way more useful than now)

    How it's done?
    Instead of using the same OUT-Command like IN-Command, i use a Trick. You need an constant Signal (per example the "Beat Phase Monitor".
    An example on the Play Button (cause this Trick works only proper if focused Deck is played)

    EXAMPLE
    D#3 (Play)
    Add IN => Transport => Play/Pause (in our Example this is Channel3_D#3)

    now don't add the same Command for OUT
    (don't Add OUT => Transport => Play/Pause)

    use this
    Add OUT => Output => Beat Phase Monitor
    Deselect Invert & Blend
    Controller Range => min = -0.50 max = 0.50 (so it won't blink, it stays)
    very important = Modifier Conditions => Play/Pause => Device Target == 1
    exactly like on this image

    Now what happen's is, when you hit Play, Beat Phase Monitor will send "Signals" as long the Deck is played. (it don't will blink, just blend with the right settings)
    So you can change DeckFocus, and it will Update the State of the LED.

    G#2 (Sampler/Record Button)
    Other Example (Modifiers/Shift G#2)
    In the Midifighter-Mapping is a Record/Sampler Button. Which is tricky, cause when you hit it, it goes in a SamplerMode, and when you will press in this SamplerMode, Shift + Record, you'll get in the Beatjuggle-Mode.
    So how you can make that you'll know in which mode you are.

    Well, it works like this. SamplerMode
    Add OUT => Global => Beat Phase Monitor
    Modifiers Conditions1 => M3 = 1
    Modifiers Conditions2 => M2 = 0
    Controller Range => min = 0.5 max = 0.5
    Select INVERT

    Now if you press the SamplerButton, it will blend if you're in this Mode. Now if you press Shift + SamplerButton. It will begin blinking when you add the next Command in your mapping.

    Add OUT => Global => Beat Phase Monitor
    Modifiers Conditions1 => M3 = 1
    Modifiers Conditions2 => M2 = 3
    Controller Range => min = 0 max = 0.5
    Select INVERT

    So now you can see in which Mode you are.

    C#3 (Sync)
    Sync Out won't work properly, so i added something similar.
    Done it with
    Add OUT => Output => Phase Monitor
    (the PhaseMonitor is the thing that shows you if you're synced)
    Cause i don't want the Phase Monitor like it is, i make some settings

    Controller Range => min = -0.005 max = 0.005

    So the sync button only will blend if the Phase is in Sync (but sync must NOT be activated)
    (if you press Sync, the Led will go Off, but after 3-4 seconds it will come back , cause Sync Out is also mapped on this)

    D3 (Cue)
    Cause i use the "Deckalized Focus A&B" but want also be able to load next Tracks (in stopped Decks only) using Shift + Cue
    i add following
    Add IN => Load => Load Next
    Modifiers Condition1 => M7 =1
    Modifiers Condition2 => Play/Pause => Device Target ==1

    (now if you want you can make D3 Led monitors if other deck is in play )

    Turn two LPD8 into a MidiFighter HOW TO

    1.) Download LPD8 Editor Mac / Windows (How it works)

    2.) Download these Config Files for LPD8 Editor (attention these files configure only scene/preset 4, all other Scenes will not affected)
    it contains "LPD8 Top" and "LPD8 Bottom"
    FILES

    Plug just ONE LPD8 in, start LPD8-Editor and set up (TOP)
    Commit Upload "LPD8 TOP"

    Plug LPD8 out, and plug in the other.
    Commit Upload "LPD8 Bottom"

    Now you're LPD8 got the same MidiChannel (CH3) as the Midifighter and also sends the same Note's.

    Now download you're favorite Mapping for the MidiFighter and add all the Commands from here.

    ATTENTION
    Be sure no other Controller sends on MidiChannel3
    Be sure you set the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT to ALL PORTS in Traktor

    If you don't wanna modify the MidiFighter-Mapping, you could use this.
    Its a modified "Deckalized Focus A&B Mapping for the LPD8"

    i recently don't add any other functions (knobs or CC) just the MidiFighter as it is… but i got some great ideas for the Knobs and CC-Pads
    like velocity Hotcues, Visual Pan etc etc… i''l upload it if done.

    Default Lpd8 midifigter monitor mod

    so its done, LPD8 MIDIFIGHTER Monitor Mod (just for the TOP LPD)

    Cause you can switch between two layers in a Scene, i transfer my old LPD8 Mapping to this one.

    YOU CAN MONITOR (switch throug Mode's with Knob 8 (TOP row))
    when you plug LPD in, or start Traktor, Knob 8 MUST BE ON MIN

    in VolumeMode
    • Volume Deck A (top row)
    • Volume Deck B (bottom row)

    (the Pads are)
    A-Vol-Max........A-Vol-inc...........A-Vol-dec...........A-Vol-Min
    B-Vol-Max........B-Vol-inc...........B-Vol-dec...........B-Vol-Min

    like in this Video (turn off your Speakers...please)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vj2C2E36sTc

    in Pan/DeckBalanceMode
    • Volume left Channel (selected deck)
    • Volume right Channel (selected deck)

    Shift............Pan-0.33...........Pan-0.66..............Pan-1 (left Channel Mute)
    PanReset......Pan-0.33...........Pan-0.66..............Pan-1 (right Channel Mute)

    the same as the PeakMeter, just for the selected Deck, and you can rapidly switch the Pan from left to right, or reset, or or or or...

    (for what use the Pan/DeckBalance, well, old songs, (example Beatles) are recorded in 2 Channel, One Channel Lyrics / One Channel Music

    in "StepSequencerMode"
    • Phase Monitor Deck A
    • Phase Monitor Deck B

    Shift...............Tempo Bend-...........TempoBend+..............PhaseSync (DeckA)
    SetTempo128Bpm(Shift 96Bpm).......Tempo Bend-...........TempoBend+..............PhaseSync (DeckB)

    this is the coolest Mode if you don't use Sync. It's working for EDM, search songs with 128BPM, now Press Shift+PAD1(first in bottom row), now the MasterTempo is 96BPM(sync on decks must be off), that means the Pads will light up on every Beat.
    I love that.
    now you can mix 96BPM in

    (like on this Video, this video, shows just how the Led's will act)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pI_Co1vFCNQ
    the pads act just like that, you don't got a real stepsequencer. Try it... i can't really explain what i'm talking about.

    in MidiPanicMode
    • nothing

    This Mode you can make with your ideas

    So when you will use the MidiFighter as it is, you need just the Files from POST1, but if you wanna add some "inteligent" monitor features. you can use this in the Zip-File.

    Step by Step

    1. Download Zip.
    2. Plug the TOP LPD8 in
    3. Start LPD8Editor
    4. Load "LPD8 Top" from the Zip File
    5. Commit upload
    6. Close LPD8 Editor
    7. Plug LPD8 Top out
    8. Plug LPD8 Bottom in
    9. Start LPD8 Editor
    10. Load "LPD8 Bottom" from the Zip File
    11. Commit upload
    12. Close LPD8 Editor
    13. Plug LPD8 TOP in
    14. Start Traktor
    15. Import both TSI's from Zip-File
    16. first TSI is the moded MidiFighter Mapping
    17. select MidiIn => ALL
    18. MidiOut => ALL
    19. now go to the LPD8 Monitor Mod Mapping
    20. select MidiIn => LPD8 (top)
    21. MidiOut => LPD8 (top)
    22. you can find out when you start a track and go to VolumeMode, then you see if you choose the right LPD8.

    23. Have Fun

    For my future extended LPD8 MidiFighter Idea. And if anyone other got ideas to this project, just post it.
    Not assigned are 16 Knobs & 16 Pads (Velocity)

    i decided to make first just one proper Scene, and if all works like i will.
    I add Scene 1; 2; 3 (LPD8 Editor), but on every scene is the MidiFighter (Pad/Note Mode)
    Just the CC-Mode is different in the scene's.
    At least one Knob (modifier) will also be the same in every scene. The Rest is under construction.

    do you reckon the new midifighter fx combo map will work on the lpd8's?

    thanks
    It's not the gear. It's how you use it.
