"Xone:K2 has a high quality internal, four channel (2 stereo)
    soundcard "

What does this mean ? Isn't the master output, on the back of the unit, the result of 4 channel outputs togheter ?

Can someone explain what the soundcard can and can't do ? Could this serve as a 4 channel mixer (with internal mixing in traktor) ?

4ch.. or 2xStereo Out. So yes one for the Master Out, the other for the CUE/Headphone.

a Built-in Audio 2... without the volume control.

Go on Allen&Heath Website and download the Preliminary Borchure. it has some setup example.

This and 1 (or 2) X1, the most compact 4Deck setup ever

Okey Dokey... (Brad will do a big review of this) but heres my little blurb after just getting off the train and im tired.

    The Allen & Heath K2.

This was by far the best thing at BPM. I was totally blown away by it, so was Rainer and Brad C.
I know the guys at A&H quite well so I got to speak to all of them at length.

    Build Quality:
Amazing, and i mean above and beyond the call... Metal top plate, plastic bottom. The knobs/faders are standard A&H (which means great). The buttons are incredibly receptive and quite flush to the unit so there is no jelly wobble at all.
This is A&H first unit with flat boards instead of vertical circuits so they have totally gone back to the drawing board and redesigned everything from fresh.

USB powered with 2 Xlink ethernet connections to connect more units (i think they said 8 altogether, wow).
XLink multiple units being used on 2 or 3 laptops and they will sync the midi to all laptops (yeah cool right).

Stereo Phono outputs on the rear and minijack headphone out on the front.
Allen & Heaths first in house made soundcard. It will be great.

The beauty is the Latched Layers of which there are 3. Each has a different colour but you can assign any part of the controller to any layer so when you switch a layer you can keep any part the same as the previous layer and the buttons will stay the same colour as the previous layer so you can see you are using mixed layers. They theres the Shift button which then takes it into another level.

Just one of these unit can be used to rock a bar set but use 2 and leave the mixer at home and still have a spare USB for your Midifighter if you wanna look cool (just kidding).

The Push Encoders do click but thats fine, id map the bottom 2 to seek position cus im not 100% able to be Jog free.

There wont be a non-audio card version. Which is good because at the price point of about £210 it would only take £40 or so off so whats the point.

It comes with the case which is a kind of stiff neoprene and i liked it.

They had some Traktor overlays just for demo (X1 emulator and Sample Slot layout) but i was asked by the guy who actually made it if Traktor overlays would be important and i said they would be indespensible as there isnt enuff room to label it up and also overlays are very sought after by Traktor and Serato users.

This will be the one and only controller that i get in the coming months.

I absolutely LOVE this unit. I cannot praise it enuff.
I have 2 X1s and i love them but... one of them will go on the shelf as soon as a K2 lands in my lap.

Oh and Ableton users. Put 2 together and you have a great setup.

You know, me and Rainer went out for dinner on saturday after the show and we were still talking about the K2 and how we would map it. Its captivated us.

I spent 60% of the first day at the A&H stand alone.
