12 months ago I set out to create a mapping for our readers that would tap into the hidden powers of Traktor 3 without requiring a giant controller interface. Using the VCI-100 as a template, I designed a layout that made working with controllerism creative, fun and straight forward by combining many functions on single buttons knobs and faders. That work caught the eye of Vestax and became the VCI-100 special edition controller, which 100 lucky people own today. After that limited run sold out almost immediately we created a firmware upgrade kit and overlay package that allowed regular VCI-100’s to upgrade their own controllers and get the special edition performance.
With Traktor Pro, Native instruments has included many of our custom features including direct FX selection and dual filters into their software directly. This allowed me to duplicate and even improve on all of the functions that we created for Traktor 3 but with one major difference. The new mapping will work with every single VCI-100 out there including firmware versions 1.2 and 1.3! That means if you own ANY VCI-100, you can download the TSI file and try out our performance concepts of our VCI-100SE layout for free.
That conversation got started up in the forum about making a VCI-100 look like a Nintendo paddle. Little did the they know we have been working with several companies on creating some very high quality overlays for the VCI-100. The final product (available in about 4 weeks) is able to wrap around the top and sides of a VCI, changing the color and graphics to anything we want. These are not low-quality vinyl stick-ons but the same manufacturers that make durable, OEM overlays for products like Moog and Rane mixers. That means they will last forever and always fit on perfectly. So I told the Ryan, who started the thread, ” we can make that happen!” Since then one of our most frequent posters, Tekki and I have been working together on fine tuning the final design which has come a long way from the original concept.

That being said I have some important news for those that already purchased a VCI-100SE and those that want to purchase one.
Sorry for the problems we had with our server last Friday folks. Its frustrating when everything does not work according to plan but these are good problems to have. We underestimated the traffic and PayPal gave us incorrect information about what would happen if we suddenly sold that much product in one hour. The good news is that the server is ready to go and we are now using our own payment service which will not place any limits on the store.
