Upgrade Your VCI-100 CrossFader

Pro X Fade inside a VCI-100

Those who do a lot of heavy scratching and crossfader tricks on their VCI-100’s have some minor complaints about weight of the fader being too light. Luckily however one of the users of our Forum going under the name of PaddyDj has successfully integrated a Pro X Fade into his VCI-100. We were able to get hold of PaddyDj who was kind enough to make a wiring diagram that will make doing this mod just that much easier.

Black VCI-100 Wraps

Since its nearly impossible to get our Vestax VCI-100 Special Edition controller, we have created these overlays to give every VCI-100 the same look and performance. As you can see from the pictures, the results speak for themselves and the overlays are stunning. These are not vinyl stickers but durable Lexan, the same material and quality found on Rane mixers and many other top dj products. Its impossible to scratch off the labeling and they will never stretch or change shape. Just remove the protective backing, apply it directly to any VCI-100 and you will have a factory quality label that will last for years.

VCI-100 VS VCI-300

I think it was assumed by Vestax and a lot of other people that the VCI-300 was going to be a more popular controller than the VCI-100. That didn’t turn out to be exactly the case, and now many people are justifiably confused as to which controller they should buy. Here at Dj TechTools we get at least one email with this question every day so to help you make up your own mind, here is the list of pro’s and cons:

The VCI-100 NE (nintendo edition)

That conversation got started up in the forum about making a VCI-100 look like a Nintendo paddle. Little did the they know we have been working with several companies on creating some very high quality overlays for the VCI-100. The final product (available in about 4 weeks) is able to wrap around the top and sides of a VCI, changing the color and graphics to anything we want. These are not low-quality vinyl stick-ons but the same manufacturers that make durable, OEM overlays for products like Moog and Rane mixers. That means they will last forever and always fit on perfectly. So I told the Ryan, who started the thread, ” we can make that happen!” Since then one of our most frequent posters, Tekki and I have been working together on fine tuning the final design which has come a long way from the original concept.

Arcade Buttons 2- the movie

Its safe to say that the very DIY arcade button mod I did about a year ago kicked off this whole crazy site. As we have improved the site, so it seemed it might be time to also upgrade the old VCI. Its now equipped with a band new case, professional grade cutouts and a hi grade paint job that should last a lot longer than the first one. The point of this article is not to make you jealous, but instead to let everyone know I made 2 and the other one is on ebay right now.
