disable virtual memory (if you have 2+gigs of ram)

Do not do this! This will make your laptop run like crap no matter how much ram you've got.

I did this when optimizing my old dell, and I got constant dropouts and brief lockups, w/ 4GB of ram. I reset virtual memory to be 1gb, and all problems went away.
