Finally I ended up buying these for my project studio:

    http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_u...X8aDeluxe.html

To be honest I didn't expect much from Maudio and the bad room, but when I started listening to music in my library I was blown out. I expected to have a muddy bass because the room is almost square, and almost empty... and also very bad stereo image.

The room is not treated at all, and still have to work more with the monitors to see how they translate and such... but so far the stereo image is detailed, the bass is compact and controlled, and the sound is really clear.

I couldn't be happier. I'll need a lot less treatment than I thought

Good for you pier, but I'm also looking for some monitors now and I wanted to ask about the B3031A monitors, seems like they're the next step only 5 years newer... anyone know if they're better than the B2031A ones?
I used to link music in my signature but nowadays I don't.

    5 years?

I think the revised version (deluxe) is less than 2 years old.

Ahh sorry, I thought you said the maudios I bought were 5 years old...

For the small price difference I'd go for the newer ones.

I was going to buy the behringuers, but my partner has the maudios and we are planning to do 5.1 mixing at some point. So having the same monitors is a plus.

    I also just bought the bx8a's !

I cannot believe the sound difference, the bass is quite tight and there, not boomy. Also nice imaging and no ear fatigue from the highs. Much better than any other ones I was trying out.

I just tried it out at low levels in my apartment, can't wait to bring it out to the studio for a workout.

Yeah, the bass is amazingly tight here at home too, considering the bad room and no sound treatment at all.

I just got the advice of buying these; http://www.thomann.de/gb/krk_rp8_rokit_g2bundle.htm

    The RP8 Rokits... any thoughts?

I got the first version of the RP5 as my first pair of monitors for my home project studio. I was quite happy with them for home use, and even semi pro use.

Lance doesn't recommend KRK at all... but I know many studios very happy with the more expensive series.

Also, think that the room is the step in between you and the monitors.

What do you want them for?
