been seeing the rp6's around a lot lately, and got to checking them out today after reading this. apparently they color the mix so much that they don't translate well to other systems.

Fair enough, £300 monitors are gonna colour the mix a bit, that is inevitable , old adage of get what you pay for applies here.
All i'll say is youtube Flux Pavilion - all his tunes are produced on original spec RP6's

Not sure about conversation rates, but Yamahe HS80 and fostex PM1's are pretty good
