    Default Akai LPD8 mapping

This is more or less finished, well the only thing is that the 4th program bank is empty as I don't know what to do with it, I'm open to suggestions though. I've only got this thing off Ciar2001 yesterday, so apologies if any bugs are found.

Bear in mind this is supposed to compliment the VCI-100 and uses some functions of Ean's mapping.

    Here's the outline:
    Bank 1
    Main function:
    Cue Jumping

The pads act as Hot Cue buttons 1-4. Top row is Deck A bottom is Deck B.
The rotary knobs control FX banks 3 and 4 in chained mode.

If you flip the Deck C/D mode on the VCI the pads now control Hot Cues on decks C and D.

Now here's the best bit, that makes it even better than the nanoPad, turn on Juggle mode on the VCI, and miraculously the pads become Hot Cue points from 5-7 whilst the last one becomes a play/pause toggle much like in Eans We Will Rock You video.

    Bank 2
    Main function:
    Loop Control

The bottom row will place a loop on any of the decks. i.e. 1st pad = Deck A, 2nd = deck B etc. You can set the loop length using the bottom row of knobs (bear in mind they have soft takeover in place).

The top pad row meanwhile will turn on effect unit 1-4 on the deck that is currently in focus.

You can select which deck is in focus by holding down the SHIFT button on the VCI and pressing one of the pads on the top row. I also edited Ean's VCI mapping, so that whichever deck you load a track in moves to focus.
Also if you hold down SHIFT the bottom row of knobs now control the each of the 3rd FX values.

The top row of knobs are smart-knobs and control each of the FX banks. Feel free to change the sensitivities to your taste.

    Bank 3
    Main function:
    FX Control

The pads on the top row control FX bank 1, the harder you hit the higher the setting. They are set on toggle so 1 tap to set value, 2nd tap to turn it off.
The top knobs control FX bank 2.

The bottom pads control FX bank 3 using the same technique and the bottom knobs control FX bank 4.

The clever bit: If you hold down the SHIFT button on the VCI, you can select which FX units are turned on for which deck. So hold down shift and the top row of pads can turn on FX units 1-4 for deck A. 2nd row controls deck C, whilst the knobs do the same thing, except you have to turn them all the way to the left to turn off the fx banks for decks B and C.

I'll try and make a video demonstrating all the features, meanwhile ask ahead if I made no sense whatsoever.

    Bank 4
    Main Function:
    Track Beat Gridding

I've numbered the pads 1-8 starting from the top left pad and going right.
Pad 1: Jump back by 4 beats
Pad 2: Jump forward by 4 beats
Pad 3: Jump back by 1 beat
Pad 4: Jump forward by 1 beat
Pad 5: Set + Store Cue Point
Pad 6: Delete selected/last cue point
    Pad 7: Cue
    Pad 8: Play/Pause

    Knob 1: Next/Previous Cue
    Knob 2: Set Cue type
    Knob 3: Seek position
    Knob 4: Lock BPM
    Knob 5: Change BPM Rough
    Knob 6: Change BPM Medium
    Knob 7: Change BPM Fine
    Knob 8: Move Grid Marker

    How to install:
    Backup your current settings.

Download the zipped attachment at the bottom of this post.

First of all open the LPD8 editor and load each of the presets supplied in the zip file to their respective program banks and upload them to the LPD8.

Import the Midi mappings from the included TSI into traktor as usual.

    Enjoy!

If Traktor seems unresponsive to the LPD8, but is receiving MIDI signals try this:
When you first import the TSI, go to settings, then controller manager and choose the LPD8 under devices. Click on the in port (thumbnail 4) and choose the LPD8, see if it works. If it does then change the in port back to All Ports.

P.S. For the life of me I cant get the lights to work with midi out from Traktor, if anyone has any hints I'd appreciate it, btw I've read the thread on the Native Instruments forum but for some reason it doesnt seem to work.

thanks! Since it didn't work right away I got my feet wet into midi mapping trying to make my own and actually started to get the hang of it. But your mapping is deffinitly much more involved BUT.....I dont meen to be a noob but I can't seem to get it working with traktor. I imported the midi into traktor like usual. Also in the lpd8 editor I would load my preset and then select commit, but not seem to be working??

I cant see what would be the problem, here's the latest tsi, exported using the latest Traktor 1.2.2 you can ignore to import "all other settings" if you want.
For some reason the first fx wouldnt turn on in the 4th FX unit when in program 2, this fixes that.

I took images of how I have my LPD set up, just click on the little red arrows and you can type in the notes using the keyboard or using the up and down arrows.

I have each of the program banks set to different MIDI channels as it makes it easier to sort by banks in traktor.

    Try this:
When you first import the TSI, go to settings, then controller manager and choose the LPD8 under devices. Click on the in port (thumbnail 4) and choose the LPD8, see if it works. If it does then change the in port back to All Ports.

I tried but couldnt get it to work. I imported the mapping as usual and loaded the presets just as you shown them. I also tried switching the ports on both my vci 100 and the lpd8 in all combinations but still couldnt get it to work. It's probally just something small im overlooking...

    Hmmmm :S
Just a few obligatory question: What version of Traktor are you using?
is Traktor showing that it's receiving MIDI messages? (the blue Midi sign at the top of the window should turn blue) and also mac or windows?
