    My dreams came true!

Ever since i started to DJ i wanted to play out at local notorious radio station that airs independent music, edm and well basicaly club music (and surprisingly it's not a small radio station either, they have quite the name on air). I have been fan of this radio station since i was kid, it influenced my roots like crazy. So i am so happy that i wuz invited to play out a set live on air this sunday with my classic selection of deep and liquid-atmospheric tunes. yeiii, to celebrate

But it is a sad state for DnB in the area that I live. I started as a DnB DJ back in 97 in NJ. There were only a few nightspots that were DnB centric. Philly had a club that was promoted by 611 Records and impossible to get a guest spot DJing unless you were part of 611 and NYC had the Konkrete Jungle, also impossible to break out into. my only outlet were raves and coffee shops Because of the fricken lawyers in the country, rave is completely dead.
Eventually I had to evolve to Techno and Tech House, and then to Electro (where I can here the old familiar dark and dirty basslines I oh so loved from DnB). The only time I here DnB here now are in car commercials. It's sad. "If you really want to rock the funky beats, the funky beats, the funky beats, beats, rock the funky beats. ..."
Konkrete jungle is still going strong @ Love on McDougal.. But yes in NJ no one wants to risk playing "real" house or any other EDM, even at teen nights!

BTW, I dont think raves were outlawed in Cali for long--their scene is healthy. NYC and NJ is just bad for electronic music. Megaclubs are history for the most part (Pacha). 27th street is all bottle service garbage now. I just had this conversation with a friend of mine that we need to bring back warehouse parties...

These still happen in and around Orlando. Not too often, and they're usually pretty hush hush, but every now and then.

And parties out in the middle of nowhere in wide open fields too, lol

    Werd.

So is Direct Drive and Driven AM around NYC, not to mention Camoflauge every Tuesday at Sullivan Room; used to be at Sin Sin/Leopard Lounge. I was just at a DnB event @ Sullivan Room two Fridays ago and had the time of my life. Also, DJ Seoul opened up a place called Fat Buddha in Alphabet City, although they'll have some other music there besides DnB.

2 KJ Chapters just popped up back in LA. KJ- Long Beach and KJ- Hollywood is about to launch. As for our rave scene, some 15 year old prostitot with family ties to government OD'd at EDC this past summer so all parties in LA county are 18+ now which, IMO, is a good change. Not to sound like a dick, but her death was well served. The downer on our healthy rave scene, is that dnb is not getting booked at some of the massives. Case in point- Monster Massive, (Halloween) does not have a single dnb act in their line-up whereas in years past, they would have epic lineups. Insomniac is still booking dnb acts and have branched into dnb one-offs such as Andy C and Bryan Gee at HoB for Thanksgiving

To segue, dnb can be found in legitimate clubs in and around Los Angeles 3-5 nights a week. Clubs ranging from small dives to world class venues such as The Music Box or The House of Blues.
