I've found a bit more time and I've managed to get the midi controller wired and functioning for test purposes. At the moment it is still running HID, but I hope to use GlovePie or something (what's the easiest software to use anyone? I'm a complete novice at this part of the build) to convert the signals.
I had a bit of trouble wiring the blue latching LED buttons. These will be used as shift buttons for each channel, or preview buttons. The LEDs are only there to give a visual indication of what channel I'm listening to in my headphones, or what modifiers are being used. I couldn't figure out how to wire them, but got the drawing on the Leo Bodnar site here

The 5 volt leds I bought are very strong to look at when the faders are up full, so I might have to put a resistor in there to dim them a little. The 4 rotary encoders seem to be working well, although I did spend some time looking for the correct software to get them to work.
Here's another couple of photo's.....
