I'm very interested in doing this as well to spice things up. I'm just curious do vocal shots or sound effect shots need to be in tempo with the current track? Or can you just throw it on any beat?

I think belchman is onto something with a simple standalone solution for samples, but since I'm only using 2 decks for now I can use the C and D decks for shots. I think I'll go with custom MP3s - I'll set them up in ableton and bpm sync the shots that can be or need to be synced with the beat.

Now I just need to name the files cleverly and only have 8 shots in each file!

Btw, syncing shouldn't be necessary unless it's a longer vocal shot, like a piece of a rap song or a 1-2-3 build up

as far as storing your mp3s, probably best to put them in a playlist and assign them to a quick slot thing on the top - then you'll just have to hit the corresponding 'F' button and you're right there.. just a thought.

Sometimes i use stuff out of movies, which i rip the audio from the avi with audition. you don't want to go too crazy throwing those samples in, but a well placed sample can sometimes make the mix eh. edit the sample and set the bpm so you can trigger them in time using decks c/d. i usually use a good delay on those for extra funkyness
