Microbrews in the US are actually not too bad. You just gotta find the right ones.

^ Agree!
I was really happy to see this ad.
More proof that house is taking over the world!!!
Also that commercial was for Bud Light 'Platinum'.....their new beer. 6% alcohol and not half bad, but nothing great.
Bud Light isn't a beer you drink because it tastes good. Bud Light is beer you drink to get drunk, hence the tagline "The difference is drinkability." The idea is that since it's so insubstantial it goes down more easily (and once you're drunk the taste is no longer much of an issue). If you're buying Bud Light because you want a tasty beverage, you're doing it wrong. If you're buying Bud Light because it's a cheap way to get drunk as a college student... You're still doing it wrong and should buy some Olde English 800 instead, but that's another story.
If you want a U.S. beer that doesn't taste quite so... "efficient"... I suggest trying craft beer/micro brews. They're not as well known as Bud, possibly because they're not spending millions on Super Bowl ads, but they can be pretty good.
Funny you should say that, since the whole point that you really can't say on tv about the platinum BL is that it has about 6% alcohol (as compared to the typical 4% of regular BL).
Also, Anheuser Busch is now owned by inBev, a Belgian company, so it isn't really an American beer anymore
