The brostep following is kinda fucked up cause its mostly alot of pre-teen girls wanting to "rave" and dudes jamming nothing but skrill, but if it wasn't for the bro i wouldn't have found my love for all EDM. I got into dance music because i was in a heavy metal kick and i heard the Tek-One "Sleep With One Eye Open" remix and it literally blew my fucking mind. So i pursued it deeper and found brostep, which led to dubstep, ect. ect. So in a sense, it will bring in a bunch of fucking mainstream "drop it or die" peeps but at the same time might bring in people and lead them to the better genre's. (i still love bro-step though, but that's the metal guitarist in me )

Funny you say that, my roommates play lead/rythm guitar for various metal bands and they both are into the heavier "Bro-step" type beats like flux pavilion and rusko ect...

But when we jam out together, I find myself spinning some bro-step from time to time. Not all of it is god-awful, but alot of it is.

BTW, heavy guitar riffs go really well with dubstep, add a live drummer and you got something sick!

I can see a lot of overlap between Brostep fans and Metal fans, it's the same "harder is better" mentality.

same way metal kids were getting into hard dance as a cross over back when I was a pup. most of those kids I knew went back to metal when the ecstasy pills wound up being 90% omo and glass shards though.

So having watched the growth of dubstep over the years I will say that I have enjoyed some 'brostep' but still like the deep dubstep far more. Also Karlos, you hit the nail on the head of Skrillex being victim to his own success.

Also the people who say it's looking for a more aggressive sound? There's far more aggressive stuff than 'brostep', pretty sure it's called 'tear out'... Stuff like Balkansky, Sinister Souls, Broken Note, Broken Note, and Machine Code... far more aggressive than any Brostep I've heard.. but also a far darker sound more akin to metal. eg:

Bro-step and guitar/drummer sound really good, and I do see the same mentality in bro/metal fans. But it kinda brought me out of my metal phase as now im a electro house/complextro kinda zone. But when it comes to live drummers and EDM, im into stuff like this:
