Am I crazy for really wanting and considering a pair of CDJ-2000s?

I could almost afford a CDJ-2000 based on the music in my "current" playlist being purchased as mostly new vinyl.

It's disgusting how much vinyl costs.

Yup, I think the "recording industry" f'd up big time. Two of the most popular types of music (dance and hip hop) have turntables and vinyl as part of their subculture. If the industry had made an effort to push that format more into the mainstream they could be selling tracks at ~$5 a pop, in a format that cannot be pirated.

It's completely possible to pirate vinyl. It's called recording.

And they used to put all music on vinyl back when there weren't better options. CDs sound better than vinyl, just like any uncompressed digital medium.

Vinyl is a real shit medium…it's just that its fun to spin on turntables and it sounds good enough to not have to use a computer if you can afford the wax.

duh. i'm talking about fostering a desire for people to own records again. depending on ones age, your parents grew up with records and probably still have a collection of albums somewhere.

they could have easily brought that back since dance and hip hop have vinyl roots to start with.

I am also thinking bout this, either I go cdj route or vci-400 but for that id like a 2 channel mixer with the same filters/effects as db4 and more budget price that would be a dream.
atm i got cdj 850's and djm 800 but my hunger for gear is inevitable.

Second hand CDJ-2000s don't really come up used for good prices. I can get them cheaper brand new in box than I've seen used ones go for on ebay and craigslist so far.

I would skip the VCI-400. I couldn't go back to an all in one controller.

They did that for about 20 years with DJs.

Normal people never did care because–even to a layperson with shitty ears–vinyl is really inconvenient.

I made this discision a year and half ago; ditching traktor and SL's and going (back) to CDJ's. bought the 900's and love them since !
