I hope they get creative with it, theres some patterned serato vinyl out there thats rather sexy.

As for the MK2 timecode stuff, do you know if the update for this will nuke MK1 timecode completely? As in, if I update, my large collection of timecode is useless? That would suck ass rather a lot.

If you have an upgrade from a pre-TSP2 era, then your MK1 timecode will continue to work.

So your old TC's will no longer work with the latest version\update of TSP?

I don't use TC often, but if I must scrap'em all (fluo, colors & regulars), it will sucks, that's for sure.

NI, add a check box to select MKI or MKII timecode... finger cross around this sentence

If you've upgraded from an earlier version of TSP than 2.0, they will still work

I'm confused how could the MK2 vinyl break usage of the old ones. Traktor timecode up to this point has worked with all versions of Traktor (Traktor 3, TSP, TSP 2) Are my fluorescent vinyls gonna be useless if I update to TSP 2.1.2

Thanks Lethal, that explain the "(if timecode MK2 is included in the box)" line in the compatibility chart. sorry 'bout that.

In your case, it won't. You have an upgrade path from an earlier version. They will continue to work. As for why, this is why (and this is my personal opinion).

You own a license from the MK1 timecode. NI paid a chunky licensing fee to a company called N2IT for every scratch license sold.

Now you have a new timecode. Users who buy a new TSP2.0 license will get the new timecode, and the old timecode will not work. Users like you and me (upgraded from an old license) can use both versions of the timecode.

    Conclusion:
We can use the old timecode because NI have paid N2IT the licensing fee to use it.
New license holders cannot use the old timecode because NI have not paid N2IT for a license to use it.

I'm trying, somewhat unsuccesfully, to explain this in a non-confusing way.

    - If you have upgraded to TSP 2 from an earlier version of TSP, then you are licensed to use the older timecode, and the timecode works
    - If you have a completely new TSP 2 license, you are not licensed to use the older timecode, and the timecode will not work
