    Default what is this considered?

    story:
People i know play a set but in reality all they do is: spend several hours a couple days before, open up ableton, and throw in several songs. They line up crossfade points with some automation of volume level. when game day comes they hit play and use a Triggerfinger, to activate effects. ultimately allowing them to walk away from their screen and go to the crowd, the set list is "premixed" and has a set time.

    is this considered DJ'ing?
I personally believe they are just babysitting a fancy ipod.
I am eager to know what everyone else thinks.

No offence. But a thread asking people if they think * add text here * is the wrong way to do something seldom turn out constructive in any way.

DJ Should read people mind on the spot... playing a pre-recorder/prepared set is called juke-box, or Jock-Box to your liking.

However, if they got gig and people like it, the actual industry say it get the job done, haters gotta hate... but they have their pay check.

So all the work finding the tunes and prepping them count for nothing?
