Even if you take AC requirements from the ecuation by using a power adaptor, I'm pretty sure it would be one nice bottleneck waiting to collapse, expect some extra hate from the windows users.

Since USB3 seems to be problematic at the moment and firewire is kinda rare, we'll have to wait for thunderbolt to evolve or USB3 to become a trusty standard.

If they keep a different port for audio, then it might be possible.

I know, still a pipe dream at the moment. But once they figure out the USB3 situation and it starts to become more prevalent I don't see why something like this wouldn't be considered

I agree, no more running out of ports and no need for bringing an extra hub

Well that would be the idea, One port for the midi info, and another for the audio it self

If they are clearing stocks of kontrol x1 to make way for the next product...

Does it mean it's the end of the line for the x1? Previously when they did this with the traktor scratch packages (50% off) they stopped stocking and making the audio4 and audio 8 soundcards afterwards
    Setup:

    Traktor Pro 2 / S2 MK2 / X1 MK2 / Audio6 / Pioneer HDJ2000 / Westone UM3X / rMBP 13 inch 2014 (2.8 GHz) / Focal Alpha 50

It's not gonna be a mixer. Midi mixers don't cut it and NI aren't going to revolutionize what Pioneer and A&H have created.

CDJ's are redundant and are wide open for revolution. They don't work that well with timecode and are clumsy, big and lacking in features for midi control. The X1 is a great aid to that legacy.

A revolution could come in the form of a new 'deck' IMO and as some already stated.

That's where I would be putting my money and hopes. X2 or new style completely.

    I hope they don't finish the X1.

I'm still pissed I can't buy an Audio 4 or 8 any more, I just don't really want the 10 or to a lesser extent the 6.

If the link is correct and it is an S2, I really don't see who it's aimed at.

The only advantage I could see would be the size - it would go in the booth a lot easier I suppose...
