which is the main selling point for the S4

If the NI gods could give me a traktor certified analog mixer. Some built in effect. soundcard inside, totally mapped.....well I would have never gotten my DJM 700.

I dumped my s4 cause I wanted to not be tethered.

If I were NI. I would think about industry standard type equipment. Maby some sort of deck with a highly responsive jog wheel that can play CD's aaand be controlled by traktor software via HID, plus make GOOD mappings for Serato

Basically a cdj2000, I'd skip the CD playing ability. Chop a deck from the S4, longer pitch fader, add 4 more hotcue buttons and maybe another fx bank and it trashes every deck controller made to date. The updated X1 would be the version without a jogwheel for the sync friendly. The question is: integrated soundcard? I think it's better to keep it separate.

    PS: I love speculating

Thats what I was saying, the only hardware they've made are midi controllers and soundcards.
neither have anything to do with mixing.
None of which are close to the quality of mixers in the $700+ price range.
What happened with the S4? It was crap so they had to give away their software for free.
I don't see that working with an external mixer.

My only guess is that they would try to copy the x1600 and make it "1-on-1 traktor integrated".. which would be fine.. and maybe they'll learn a thing or 2 about quality.
I'm still not sure I would buy it..
It would be nice to see a x1600-like mixer integrated with traktor.. I'd be very tempted. I'm still not sure about NI tho. Maybe denons next mixer

It would.. but they would have to strictly compete with denons quality.
The sc2000 is a very solid controller with a VERY nice platter and pitch..
    much better than the S4.
I'm not to sure a few extra knobs and buttons would justify lesser quality!
    ..speaking of industry standard gear.

I hated the s4 and i hope NI come up with something better, not a fan of all in one controllers and i think NI hit the nail on the head with the X1 so i am excited to see what they come out with.

You'll have to tell me how that goes for you, I've been considering one myself ...

my thoughts were that it could be used for timecoding 4 decks
