Cant see why not... you should be able to use the optidrive as boot as well i think if you start holding "Option" and store your 250 somewhere safe for now.

thans deevey, i cracked my Seagate 160 gb hd open and replaced it with the tb to backup all my files.

also put my 4 gigs of ram in -- itunes booted up instantly (god that hasnt happened in ages. )

just waiting on this damn optibay caddy to do the full install.... its taking too long to get here.

Good luck! Altough it took me less than 10 minutes to do the whole thing, most of the time is in reinstalling OSX! Enjoy your speed

i ran into a snag. got the optibay out and all that jazz.... but theres a lil dustguard for the cd/dvd drive that doesnt allow the caddy to slide in as it occupies the mm of space that the drive needs to fit snugly against the unibody frame.

any idea how to get that out?

help! my macbook is in pieces and im freaking out cause i wanna put her back together

so from what ive read, the unibody frame has that lil piece of plastic that is part of it that contains the cd drives dustguard that doesnt allow the optibay caddy to fit snugly in the body of the computer.....

probably gonna just mount it another way or resize the caddy... ill have to figure it out

can't you just remove the piece of plastic? I've seen a couple of youtube vids and it looks easy enough to fit it but I don't remember mention of a dust guard...

yeh man huge snag. im on a 13" unibody macbook (not pro) and its just a smidge too small.

im pretty pissed off at myself. my 1tb wont fit (didnt read the specs and its just a bit too tall for the macbook.... shoulda checked that ... oh well itll be a great external to back up all my shit to.)

    and @ fullenglishpint

i tried dood. very carefully. but it was giving me trouble and i didnt wanna force it. from what ive read its part of unibody frame... very troubling.

ill prob just shave down the optibay and then mount it in, **yet there were no screw holes to mount it on the IBM Universal caddy i bought. (the one recommended in the cheap option on the DJTT article)..... i may just figure out a different way to secure it in place.
