Buy it! Say your beautiful MacBook Pro is 13 month old and the Logic Board fails, you'll receive a quote usually around the £900 mark! so for the outlay of a couple of hundred within the 1st year is priceless

You don't have to take it out when you buy it, you can do it anytime within the 1st year

I got mine in mid 2009 on the education discount, which let me extend the applecare from 6 moths to 3 years for £48 as opposed to the usual £300ish. Wouldn't have done it otherwise, and have never used it, but my mate got one around the same time and when he made a dick of himself a few months later by putting a nokia software install mini CD into the slot loading drive (learn from this kids), he was sure glad he had it.
