    Default Latency / lag time

    Hi Folks

    new problem looking for solutions.
    any help is appreciated.

got traktor 1.2.7 / mac book pro / hercules RMX custom mapped.

using only 2 decks but with the 4 effects processors

when all 4 effects are pushed to on within the mixer or when there seems to be too much going on, i loose latency and you can visually see the lag time when using controls. i'm not sure why.
in the Audio set up settings my latency is 11.5 ms

last night i decided to map one more beat phase monitor LED to pulsate with the beat, suddenly i was faced with MAJOR lag time. when i took that LED back off everything seemed fine.

I am looking for a fix

    thanks
    Dax

Are you positive you don't have conflicting midi messages in your mapping? That may be causing some issues, but I don't know that for sure. You could also try to get rid of some of your LED feedback on other stuff and see if it get's better.

    Hi

    thanks for your reply

i dont think its a mapping issue. everything seems to work fine when using one or two effects, or juggling cues on one deck. then sometimes when i start to add more effects or add the other deck. . . things go downhill with the lag.
most times its like an analogue lag where the screen is way behind the actions u took on your controller

I'm going to guess you have some kind of MIDI feedback loop going on that's blowing up your buffer. What do you have set as your MIDI devices in Traktor. Is the Hercules controller set to ALL PORTS, or to it's own interface?

Hercule had some driver/firmware issue awhile back, I would suggest you to have a look on their website of the problem persist.

Also, sorry for my total MAC ignorance, but could this be one of those "you don't use the right USB port" thing?

I didn't think about that. Have you tried different ports?

I got also an MacbookPro 13" and a Hercules RMX. I know your problem, to solve this, buy an new Soundcard. Hercules Soundcard can't handle Traktor Pro with to much on.

If i use the RMX with more than two decks (or FX-Units), i use an external soundcard.
    Hope this helps

    some interesting comments
i dont think its the drivers as i just got this RMX in Jan and loaded them from the site.
i'm going to try the other USB port to see if that makes a diff.
i'd be disappointed if i have to buy a sound card .. . i already got to buy a usb hub
    i appreciate the advice
    thanks much!

AH! Are you aware that, in theory, you shouldn't share the audio interface (audio card or controller with audio interface) with anything else? I mean, you dedicate a laptop USB port ONLY for your audio card, the other for your USB hub.

    very important !!
    in your case, the rmx

by the way... try to set the latency higher (>20ms), this could work
