Default Completed - Kontrol S4 Midi Mapping for Traktor Pro 1.2.7 by DJ AJ

    Hi Guys

Just wanted to share with you my custom mapping of the Kontrol S4 for Traktor Pro.

I put this together as I couldn't live without the 4 band Xone EQ, Super Knobs, Combos, Custom Jog FXs, and also I wanted to make a mapping that gave you all the 4 deck transport controls always on hand, rather than selecting Deck C/D every time you wanted to access them.

I also found that there were a few bugs and things i didn't like in the new S4 software and many things I missed about the simple but effective and flexible workflow i was used to in traktor pro.

Anyways the key features of this mapping are:

Full use and assignment control of FX units 1,2,3,4.
Jog Wheel FX for FX unit 1,2
Fader Fx Dry wet control for 1,2
    Hold/Toggle mode for FX 1 & 2
    FX Combos and Pre-sets
    Preset Scratch/Rewind Control
    Preset Freeze Control
Easy FX Selection, combos and presets (use shift keys) using (previous) gain knobs

All transport controls available at all times
CUP, DROP, Filter on all now easily available
    3 Shift Buttons
    Cue Jumps
    Beat Jumps
    Scratching/jog tempo bend
    Xone 4 band eq
    Deck Focus
Easier loading (shift + Cue button for relevant deck)
Master Tempo Control - 2 Types (s1 + Left pitch fader, s1+ Browse knob)
List and Tree Browse , expand and preview
    And more.

Easiest thing is for you to check out the attached JPG as i have labelled all the changed functionality (sorry for the low res picture as I only have my iphone 4).

I have attached all my settings files in the ZIP, so choose the ones you need, as you will also need to import the fx settings/layouts to make it work (so make sure you back up your existing set up first), please note you also have to use to the kontrol editor to load the midisettings to your Kontrol S4 as they needed to be tweeked.

Anyway hope this helps any of you guys out there who still like using Traktor Pro 1.2.7.

Let me know what you think.

I hope the photo explains well enough the layout easily, I have focused on making this as intuitive as possible.

    Cheers
    Ajay

First of all nice work. i have not loaded them yet but will do this later.

Quick Question. Judging only from the picture:

    No Hotcues?
No Loop recorder (not that I use it much)
Are the tempo faders still there as I seem them labelled as drywet?

Before building this one for pro, I built an early version for the S4. But found that the NHL has too many limitations (e.g. cant map button presses to knobs) to make full use of super combos.

When the next version of the s4 software comes out and only if the xone eq is enabled and the issues with sync and others I have raised before etc are resolved, I'll do a new one that matches this one for pro 1.2.7 then, but only if they are resolved.

If you really want the early draft version I did, let me know and I can provide it to you as is as a starting point, but its not as well laid out as this one at all.

Yes Hotcues are available by pushing s1 + the original hotcue buttons (1-8). s1 is mapped to the first right hand side offset button.

No loop recorder as this is Traktor Pro 1.2.7 software

Tempo Faders are accessed by pusing S (Shift) and using the Tempo fader as per usual (relative mode).

Thanks Guys! Hope you like it and find it useful as I do.

As a side note, the Kontrol S4 hardware works awesome in Midi mode. I'm loving using it with the original traktor pro!

damn! I had it working, then I messed up traktor by checking all the bockes when importing the TSI. Then did a reinstall, deleting everything from native instruments. After installing everything again I can not load your AJ.ncc file into the control editor anymore, it only takes ncks4 files now, what the hell...

-edit- ok nevermind, if you click open template in the top menus it does work just not from the menu on the right side, sorry
