Default Having LED arcade buttons or LEDs above the arcade buttons

I was browsing through a few threads on doing the arcade button modifications and then had this idea of not wasting the LED connections so why not connect them to LED buttons or have small holes drilled in the cover to accommodate LEDs.

Saw a few types on the Internet and whilst the majority of them will be too big or require a rather deep housing, some of them just MIGHT make an already funky piece of kit look even flashier.

I like the idea. I think you would have to use illuminated buttons because drilling a hole in the buttons wouldn't let enough light through. It might be possible to use some extra bright LED's to illuminate some of the lighter color buttons.

Nope, just took a button apart. I don't think there's enough room in there.

And the faster you drum those buttons, the more of a free lightshow you'll be having.

That does look cool and actually makes me consider doing the arcade mod. I'm just saying I don't think you can put an LED inside a button you get from DJTT because of the way they're built. Which brings up another point. DJTT chose the buttons they sell because of how well built they are. I wonder if any of the LED buttons you linked to above are equally as well built?

This is def possible, however you are right in that the djtt buttons are too opaque to use. If you look on lizard lick you will find some by another manufacturer which are clear with a diffuser in the cap and are about the same size as the sawn buttons we sell. There is a thread floating round in which another forum member used these for his vci mod with very good effect.
While we have always wanted to have back lit buttons for the midi fighter we didn't want to sacrifice the performance for wow factor hence our decision to stick with sanwa.

To be really frank, I don't think most of us will torture the buttons the way Ean does. I definitely won't since my purpose in getting the controller is to control decks 3 and 4 plus combo mixer / player for certain gigs where I need more than 2 decks. Other than that, if there're CDJs available, especially the 1000s, I'll use them.

I was thinking the same thing. May study up on this a little more.
