i really wanted to be excited about this but i have a feeling its just going to feel "cheap" to me.

let me explain.

a) im a former blizzard employee

b) i used to work with the 1st assistant level designer on starcraft 1 when i worked at shiny entertainment.


i think its going to be fun, let me say that right off. but will it be anywhere near as amazing as the original? no way. video games are about the people slaving away on them. starcraft was james phinney's baby, and eric flannum did the lions share of the work james wanted done (from a gameplay, level design, and multiplayer flow and balance perspective).

neither of those guys have been at blizzard for years and years now.

i think the game will be fun, but its just going to feel like a "multi million dollar production of a fan inspired game based on starcraft" to me. i dont think anyone from the original team even worked on this one.

im more excited for guild wars 2 as Arenanet is MOST of the original blizzard north team. GW2 is produced by phinney and the lead designer on the sequel is eric (remember the zerg level? that was all eric's work, among many other levels in the original starcraft).

will i buy it? yeah prolly. but im not "omfgwtfbbq this is gonna pwn so hard!" about it.

as posted in another thread, got it and should def stop playing it and start mixing instead :P But like everyone else who played SC1 i've been waiting 12 years for this game to come out, so mixing is on hold for a little bit :eek:
