Last gig I learned to double check which outputs you have routed to master and which outputs you have routed to your monitor...
it took me about three tunes to realize I had them backwards, and the mains were coming out my headphones and the crowd was actually hearing my monitor mix. Instead of trying to fix it (would would involve at least one speaker dropping out for a few seconds) I just said fuck it and didn't use my headphones (and thus, the monitor mix) for the remaining three hours and fifty two minutes. Granted I had also started drinking around seven hours before my gig, so I really couldn't be arsed anyway.
Thank god for sync.
