Default Help me spend my hard earned money

Hi guys. Looking for a midi controller and quite frankly don't know what to get anymore. I was going to get the VMS4, but I have been hearing things about it that kind of are disappointing (the latency from the rubber buttons, virtual DJ instead of traktor, not the best soundcard, blah blah blah)

Anyways, I have in the area of 500 dollars to spend. I can spend more, I can spend less. I want a good controller, nothing that I am going to have to replace anytime soon. One of the big things I am looking for is having a controller with all the main effects. I would want rubber buttons. You get the picture.

Does the VCI-300 have effects on the controller that you can dick around with? I have not been able to see any when looking at pictures.

I must agree with looneygeorge. If you meant on-board effects as in effects built-in to the mixer, then the DDM4000 is a good choice as it is relatively cheap. I found a new one on craigslist for $270. The only issue then is getting a soundcard so that you can monitor songs which can be easily done with the money you save. Although, with concordance what I've read about all Behringer equipment, some knobs are a bit looser than others, not all of the center position white-markers are exactly centered, and one of my faders popped off, but I just slipped it back on without a problem. The MIDI is extraordinary, but is not exactly geared for a controllerist performance (I'm still trying though, with new innovative maps). Not only is it a monster controller and mixer, it's size is actually really big, I can barely fit it in my bag.

However, the VCI-100 is a super good controller that is bus-powered, which is a big plus, and has touch-sensitive jog wheels which give a new type of feel to whatever you have mapped to the controls. Ean's mapping is very sophisticated and thorough, but I find, is geared towards a more controllerism performance aspect of DJing. I can't say much about it since do not own it, but seeing what Ean has been able to do with it, it looks like a solid controller. It's also very sleek and compact which is great for travel, unlike the DDM4000.

I bought a VCI 100 SE and love it. It is right price too: $560. Or DIY w/ an overlay.
