    Thanks for the advice Kaleaf.

Im trying to cut down on shipping costs by ordering parts from as few websites as i can.
All the cables , knobs, connectors........ will be from one company.

The only 10k lin pots with solder tags that i can see have got 50mm shafts.
Would it be possible to cut them down to size?

I use 22 awg wire that I pull from my spool of cat-5 network cable and solder with a water based flux core.
You totally lost me there. Any chance you could point me in the right direction for some cable/wire that would be suitable from the same website?.
Bearing in mind ive got to solder to the game pad pcb too.

By the way i ordered all the arcade buttons last night (20 x sanwa obsf-30)
also ordered the game pads plus a few other things.

    Cant wait to get busy.

Let me know as soon as you can so i can order them .......Thanks

22 awg is the size of the wire I use. I take it out of network cable because I have lots of it. I did not find the pot I normally use on any of the uk sites.

I just noticed the lack of analog sticks on those controllers you have so im wondering how your going to use the pots also in you designs I only see buttons

I ended up ordering a few of each potentiometer hoping i can get one of them to work ok.

As for the Game pads - I didnt get the ones pictured in the first post i got some with analog sticks. All thats left to order now is some Plastazote foam and some protective corners for the case.

I finally decided to do some mods of my own too. This is pretty close to something i had in mind. I have ordered 10 arcade buttons and a "double gamepad" like this:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Dual-Double-...item27a1b64462
So it's pretty much the same as the one in first post. I'm not planning to do any knobs, only two controllers linked together with 5 buttons each. I know i couldn't have done that with only one controller, but that cord that splits the controller might be tidier than doing my own. Plus it wasn't that much more expensive and it leaves me opportunity to develope the controller if i feel like it in the future.
So basically i'm building a poor man's Dicer with 4 cue points on each side of my mixer vertically. Plus one extra button for sync or something.

So my question is that have you opened that dual gamepad? Is it easily hackable? (mine hasn't arrived yet from China)

One tricky thing will be of course that i'm using a Mac. I don't really know how to make a gamepad work in Traktor. I need some software that converts hid to keystrokes or midi.

My total costs so far: 20$ (casing and wiring will be free from work)
My work in progress: 20% (needed parts ordered)

    $0.99 beats everything

Why buy something, when you can build it yourself for the double cost?
