Always check the phono/line level switch when jacking into a club's mixer.
Always make sure it's set to stereo, not mono.
Always make sure that both your left and right cables are securely plugged in.

The first 2 are recent. The 3rd is something I did a few months back - 20 minutes into my set and realised what was wrong : thought the booth system was just busted on the right channel.

I agree 110% i think this is often overlooked and it drives me nuts. imo its so important to maintain the flow from track to track but dropping effects just because you can tends to break things up. I tend to look at effects as if they are a separate instrument within a track. This forces me to think "ok will this work here or should I wait". I also find some genres lend themselves better to effects over others. Minimal techno loves loops and samples but you gotta be careful with effects, Pumpin house or dnb/dubstep sound awesome with some intelligently placed effects. Thanks for bringing that one up Fyoog

Hmm, was lined up for a four hour breakbeat set last night. After putting off prep until the morning of the gig which I work about 6 hours on my playlist and cues/loops/acapellas closed down Traktor and blue screened...3 hours before my gig. XD
Lost everything...had to re-install and remap many things. I was still getting shit straight mid-set. Nevertheless I pulled it off and had a good time--only drank one beer during the set. Most stressfull gig i've ever done.

OK lesson learned: Be ready at a minimum 1 day before a 4 hour set.

As a side note, the music was so good a couple of train hoppers came into the club and started dancing. good times good times.
