All that gridding will be time well spent....
Thanks for the welcome - I've been lurking for a while, but I was a Virtual DJ kid with a BCD3000. Now I'm a Traktor geezer soon to be the proud owner of an X1!

They already haunt me! Especially the cue points - once I've saved up a few more pennies and come to terms with Traktor a bit more, I'm def going to be adding a Midi Fighter to my modest little collection

I learned, for the millionth time, to grid and set cues on my tracks as soon as possible after getting them. I'm in the middle of a marathon session of 200+ songs right now. I only got about 50 of them today, and today was a big day for getting songs. So for now on (i've said this too many times), I'm beatgridding and setting cues everytime i get a new batch of tunes.

I've just made the switch to Traktor, so I feel your pain. Busy setting cues and grids for all my tunes. Also finding the comments and ratings feature exceptionally useful. If I find that two particular tunes gel well, I can make a note of it to remind myself later

I've done about 50 of my 809 tracks! This is also proving to be useful culling exercise - loads of tunes are being relegated to the backup drive because I haven't played them in years

I learnt that if you are chopping up some cheese weed and fart at the same time...the smell is pretty much something really new and badass!

wow, feel you on that one.

I have been collecting music for well over 6 years and have close to 7000 tracks I would consider using for any type of gig. Even after subdividing between very specific categories (electro house, as opposed to tech house, and so on), I found that sitting there for 2-3 hours at a time, keying, setting cue points, and adding comments / "colors" / info about the track made me sick to my stomach after about a month solid.

I had to stop, as I was afraid I would lose the interest in even sitting down and playing.

Yes it can be a long process but once you get on top of it its fine.

I learned today that sets don't need to be low to high energy build up throughout the entire set, a rollercoaster of low to mid to high and back to low and start again is quite good (it also gives people breaks to go get drinks and relax for a bit).
