beginner DJ needs help

I don't know many/any PC laptops with built in line inputs so it probably sounds bad through the mic input, I've only seen line in on the macbooks.

It doesn't matter if you're recording or not…if you hit digital zero, you sound like crap.

As for the difference between headroom or turning down the output…I'm not convinced there's a difference.

thank you all for help i've done it! now i have 1 more problem. as i probably sad i have my behringer mixer connected to audio2dj sound card and then to pc. the problem is that when the pitch on my mixer is all the way down music is still heard, but really faint, and when the music is not playing there is faint rustle in speakers anyone can help me?
