Reference II - Turntable
http://www.goldmund.com/products/reference_ii
In 2007, 25 years after the creation of the mythical Goldmund Reference, Goldmund introduced a limited series of 25 new Reference turntables. This second edition reaches levels of luxury and technology never attained before. Each unit is hand made in the Goldmund Geneva atelier and limitations imposed by the unique design imply that not more than 5 turntables will be made each year.
With a weight of more than 300kg the new Goldmund Reference pushes the Mechanical Grounding construction principles developed by Goldmund to new limits. The stand itself is an ultra-sophisticated assembly of steel and aluminum that weighs more than 200 kg. The turntable itself is suspended with a platter level one meter above the floor to allow comfortable use.
The Platter has been doubled in size and inertia since the first Goldmund Reference with a combination of brass, metacrylate and lead in a proportion that perfectly cancels reflections of vibrations in the platter. The rotational mechanism remains similar to the one of the first Reference. Most of the early turntables remain in service today and prove its phenomenal durability.
The Reference II motor is regulated in speed by two ultra-low speed servo loops. One on the motor, and one on the platter providing a correction period in the minutes domain. The turntable may receive three tone-arms including 2 pivoting ones.

This is an awesome thread, but needs to be renamed. There's not much gearpron in here.
