Senior Editor

We are looking for the right person to help continue our growth from a kick-ass little blog to a globally recognized online magazine while maintaining a community feel and independent voice. The ideal candidate will be a digital DJ interested in pushing the boundaries of DJ performance and sharing knowledge with others. Some previous writing and editing experience is required but if your super motivated we are happy to train the right person.

As Editor of DJ Tech Tools, you will:

• Edit all of the blog posts at DJTechTools.com (3 per week).

• Review submissions from freelance/staff writers and either schedule, reject or re-work them.

• Write/produce at least one article or video per month of your own, as well as coordinate one post per month from an outside source.

• Plan a monthly publishing schedule for the blog with the founder, Ean Golden.

• Review article performance to determine incentives the writer will receive.

• Continually seek out and develop new freelance contributors.

• Contact manufacturers and distributors for review equipment.

• Monitor reader comments and integrate feedback into new story ideas.

• Keep up with the latest DJ technology news and performance methods.

• Develop article templates to improve contributing writers’ submissions.

About You:

1. An inherent desire to get the facts right and serve the audience with innovative ideas.

2. Strong English writing, editing and oral communication skills.

3. Passion for DJ technology and active participation in DJ culture.

4. Ability to work efficiently on your own without direct supervision.

5. Consistently meet deadlines.

6. Well-organized.

7. Positive attitude, strong work ethic and the patience and to roll with the fast pace and evolving nature of a growing start-up company.

It Would be Sweet if you had…

• A high level of proficiency with one or more digital DJ systems.

• Experience with Photoshop, photography and shooting/editing video.

• Computer music production experience.

• Knowledge of modifying electronic equipment, especially DJ mixers and controllers.

About the Gig:

• Part-time or full time depending on the candidate.  15-40 hours per week — with monthly base salary and incentives based on contributing writers’ article performance.

• Remote telecommuting is possible if you’re not located near the DJ Tech Tools office in San Francisco, California.

• Hours and work times are flexible as long as you complete all the necessary tasks.
