i love this!!!! I think if there was a switch between filters and different effects like beat masher, would be NEXT LEVEL if it isn’t already, wow!

Much respect for the fretless fader Mr Beez! Turntablism has been stagnating for some time now, hopefully the +/-8 ‘fixed’ pitch of technics 1200 stranglehold will finally be given a shake up!

Like many others I too have been waiting with great anticipation over the release of the FF, however with all the extra features being added it hardly seems surprising that it’s taking so long.  I can remember about a year ago John Beez jumped in on one of the serato discussion forums regarding the FF.  At the time he said that the FF would be a standalone unit (i.e. a fader in a box).  It looks like times have changed and he’s going the whole-hog by building his own mixer and dropping the FF inside it.

It does seem like a ballsy move to start a fresh mixer brand among an already saturated mixer market.  I also wonder about the cost as I doubt he’ll have the funds to roll out a million units to keep production costs down.  Also given the niche nature the product I can’t see it becoming the new club standard mixer either (nor is that it’s purpose).  Perhaps he should hit up one of the small to medium mixer companies like Ecler or Stanton or maybe Vestax as they often are a little more interested in producing DJ gear which is different from the mainstream.  Come to think of it though, Audio Innovate (the creators of the Innofader) dabbled in making really unusual two channel mixers (the AEM 100i and the AEM 100) before creating the Innofader, maybe they’re worth a look into.  Having a Fretless Innofader mixer sounds like a match made in heaven!

What I described is still the evolution of the “fader in a box” concept. This is not attempting to be or replace a traditional DJ mixer. When I said 2 channel mixer, I meant  that in the most basic way.  It’s got 2 inputs, gain/eq and a crossfader.  Having one channel only was an unnecessary limitation given the size of the unit.

SCRATCH BANDITS CREW from france have developed a mixer like this. The velocity of the platter movement can control modulation of various parameters.

I have been periodically checking around the net for updates and interviews with John Beez, and coincidentally I saw this interview right after i saw the new vid! I’ve been trying to get my hands on a Controller 1 for a few years now thanks to JB’s vids and I’m glad to hear that there is more progress being made on this dope project!

Oh and I COMPLETELY agree with MonstaMart

Thought I may of spotted a fretless fade in this home brew looking mixer featured in this Chineseman vid

Anyone got any info on that crazy looking mixer?!

“has 13 scales built in, as well as built in key transfers. Also to make it easier we’ve made the range of notes adjustable, so you can play two octaves all the way down to just three notes”
Fuck me gently! I love how Mr Beez hasn’t just settled with the first idea, that level of functionality really changes the scope of a turntablist endeavor to be a musician.
Tho I appreciate why, its a shame it won’t be a drop in product as I loved the idea of some how grafting one on to my beloved Scratchophone.

Either way I can’t wait to get my hands on one, John Beez, your legend! keep up the good/hard work.

I’ve been crazy excited ever since I saw this youtube video a couple of years ago.  I stoked you guys did an interview with him, and I can’t wait to see the new product.  This is my scratch wet dream – hahahaha.
