I got the Traktor Kontrol S4 for 15% off at Guitar Center. Pretty good deal as nobody seems to be discounting it anywhere that I was able to find. GC’s discount saved me about $135 off the retail price.

Bought the 13″ MacBook Pro at Best Buy. 2.66 ghz, 4GB DDR3 (will upgrade to 8 this week), 320 GB HDD. Got the 2 year replacement plan and a $100 gift card for around $1800. Was fully prepared to pay cash but got offered 24 months same as cash, one day only. Deal.

As a side note, I got to play with an S4 last night at a bar. The DJ had been on since noon for the Ohio State/Michigan game and was going on his 12th hour straight. I checked out his setup (as I always do) and he was running Maschine and an S4 through the new 21″ iMac. Pretty badass. We started talking shop and out of nowhere he says “I need to take a break, do you want to take over for about 15 minutes?” Are you shitting me? All those S4 YouTube videos came rushing back to me. He threw on a 5-minute tune, gave me a brief rundown, and said “have at it.” I got really nervous. Luckily he had a lot of the same tracks as me. In no time I had 4 decks running with samples and acapellas. I was having a blast. I owe it all to DJTT because without you guys, I would have been too scared of that beast.

Wow I envy the guy who got his VCI-100 Arcade + Audio 2 DJ over here. I’ve been eyeing that baby for a while and the only thing stopping me from getting it is a lack of funds (yeah broke college students! haha)even with a discount I was still $100 short. haha oh well. Its hardly post-materialistic if those clips are to be believed. Personally it shows the complete spiritual bankruptcy that people try to fill with stuff, a desire for competition that serves nothing but to divide people.
