Once a year, something so amazing comes out that we all have to stop and say: “Damn, why didn’t I think of that?” This is that day. The EyeCan Dj control interface from Inklen promises to replace all forms of djing instantly with the most powerful control interface ever…

What is eyeCanDJ?

The eyeCanDJ software is a revolutionary new control technology for DJs that will take DJing to the next level. eyeCanDJ is the result of several years of research, development and refinement from some of the world’s leading DJs and developers.

How does it work?

Using the latest in cutting edge image processing and motion-tracking technology, eyeCanDJ enables you to control your mix using some of your body’s most finely tuned tools: your eyes! There is no need to cart around heavy turntables or expensive MIDI controllers – all you need is a computer and a webcam and you’re ready to mix with the best.

When will it be available?

eyeCanDJ is expected to become available online and from selected music retailers at the beginning of 2011. Our proprietary tracking technology is also available to be licensed for inclusion within current digital DJing solutions.

OUR TAKE?

I’m personally ready to throw away my  controllers and hit up Lasik because this is clearly the future. Now someone just needs to track brain wave patterns to predict what song the audience wants next and digital djing will truly take over the world.

    In time eye tracking will probably replace the mouse ( http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/174582/can-eye-tracking-replace-the-mouse ), but of course there are limits to what you can do with your eyes :). And it will not work very accurately with a standard laptop camera.
