The mic Ean uses to record all his videos is a Rode NT1-A

    also…this video is hilarious

  • Priscilla

Good work. I never once thought to record through the mic for a quick drop or announcement. I knew how to route the mic but this is something a bit more special.

    Good work.

Nice tip too, Can you introduce this tip at the original post, Ean?

I have been doing the same exact thing… but yea – there is no “Deck Mono” feature in Traktor Pro. For some reason, i remember there being one in previous versions of traktor…

a work-around (if you have enough channels on your soundcard) is to get an adapter that splits the signal from the mic into 2 channel inputs on the soundcard (still mono, yet in 2 channels instead of one).

i do hate Djs who drop their name over every track, or in fact ANY track, but i’m gonna use this to create unique intros to gigs for instance i’m doing an opening party in a few weeks and to have an nice intro welcoming that particular town is quite cool.

could somebody please paste the video’s url > youtube is banned here and so nothing shows up. thanks !

nope you’re not the only one – hence my first comment :) Once in a while this might be fun but the problem is the DJs who feel the need to name-check themselves this way over every damn track they play … lol

It’s total overkill, but I’m hoping it’s just for the sake of demonstrating possibilities. If I heard this, I’d think it was just part of the track and ignore the message (assuming you could understand it in a busy venue).

  • Dave

Excellent, always wanted to know how to do that, not to abuse it but it can make a nice touch and individualize certain gigs, good work :)

  • dutty

then again the track is awesome. what is it`?

Damn this looks awesome if done right but when i try to do this on the TSP Beta it just crashs straight away >_< lol hopefully when the latest version is not beta any more this wont happen.

Just wondering what mic you’re using there?

  • Abyrne7

That is pretty sick. I’d like to do something like that saying “DJ ALLE in the mix”. Or something like that haha

  • http://myspace.com/thebetatron betatron

    oh god thats sick…

  • http://ifnotwhynot.me djsdive

so what kind of setup would i need to be able to do this live? just an audio interface with an input?

  • Abyrne7

So do you need a microphone to accomplish this?

  • http://www.indydesigns.net djhipnotikk

Classic idea Ean, really pushing things even further Traktor wise! Thanks a mil for this.

  • DJ Big Q.

Ean, man you are The Man, I was wondering how to make drops for myself, you know like intro drops, name drops and kool things like that and you just helped me out on that!! Thanx man

remember, in a pinch a second pair of headphones can work as a mic.

    Superb trick!
Well, of course, any trick is cool only if not abused, but this one is genius..
    thanks Ean

  • http://turntablepoetry.com dj professor ben

people, please … *don’t* do this!

hehehe just kidding, it is a cool trick, but please don’t overuse this effect to shout your name over every track. Please? ;)
