Both Mix Vibes and M-Audio have released new versions of their respective software’s with updated features that sound promising. While not the most popular kids in class, both pieces of software bring new options to the table with the Torq release really taking some bold leaps forward by offering Re-wire support among other updates. There is also a new bag on the market that will fit the increasingly large controllers.

Xponent Gig bag

In addition to a new piece of software the m-audio folks have released a much needed gig bag for their xponent controller. Its pricey but looks like its well designed for the mobile digital dj and has ample space for those larger controllers like the novation 25SL.

Let's see what Serato will offer in next weeks?? If they do..

  • http://www.jinja-ninja.co.uk Big Al

Got my eye on Serato too…

The Torq bag looks intereting. I can't find bigger photos though so it's hard to see exactly what it's about. I wonder if my pimped VCI-100SE will fit in it?

I'm a Traktor Pro user so I've got my hands full at the moment with it but I wonder what M-Audio Torq and Mix Vibes Cross bring to the table? Can anyone out there give us some pros and cons for both?

  • Mr. Tunes

Just a quick correction: Torq had ReWire before, but this update has better midi clock implementation. before you had to run it into a host software to get a midi out clock, well now you can get one direct on the xponent to trigger hardware and VJ gear.

it looks good so far but i'm weary about the stability of this since i feel that they tried to pinch it out for new years so that people would stop ripping on them. one day this week i'll set aside an afternoon and read the responses on the forum.

i agree the gig bag was much needed. i have this Gator thing that wheels around. it was good if i ever had to take it on an airplane(which i only did once), but other than that it's bulky if you're just going around town.

Very nice updates, way to start the year

I think this will be alot easier to route through ableton than traktor with the rewire support. I still want to see what serato is gonna do with ableton tho. Might do some more research into this seems like a good deal for me.

Big Al – the Xponent is *huge* in comparison to the VCI. It'll fit just fine, the question is whether or not it'll flop around in the bag unless it's got some sort of velcro straps or something in it.

I use a Kenneth Cole bag that I got for free for buying my wife some perfume. It is some huge makeup bag that just happens to be the same exact size as the VCI. It has foam padding all the way around the edge and the top and bottom (weird, I know!) There's also a front velcro pocket for the cabling and extra bits for my gigs.

Weird, I know, but it works awesome :)
