I'm SO READY for multi-touch DJ future interfaces. I've been waiting for them for years now. FTIR is the solution. It has multi-touch and the added benefit of projecting your interface all over your face and the ceiling of the venue.

    You can't stop the future!

I like the Lemur… but the Attigo TT is a far cry from the actual feel of the turntable. Touchscreen tech isn’t perfected.I’d stick with the Lemurs first & maybe the Monomis. Hehehe

I do think anyone is blowing off touch-screens completely. Touchscreen do have their uses, its just that they cannot be used for everything. I know i am personally all for implementing a touchscreen into my set up, but i am hardly going to use it to scratch, juggle cue points and other things that require haptic feedback.

With the advent of new and innovative technologies on the horizon in the digital DJ era, DJ’s will be able to do things they had only previously been able to dream about. Also with the new technology, there will always be the veterans and nay-sayers that will dismiss the innovations and write them off before they even get their trigger fingers dirty. As the innovations evolve and adapt, users will evolve with the technology or get left behind only to reminisce about the old days while listening to cassette tapes.

VCR, CD?s, DVD’s, all new media formats that when introduced were bombarded with a flurry of negativity and hesitation. If your still using a dial-up modem and watching old beta tapes, then I guess we know where you stand on the side of the up-and coming touch screen interface.

Before we all go crazy and write off touch screens as a useful interface for digital DJing let?s remember midi hasn?t always been as powerful as it is today. Instead, we should embrace the new technology and see what it has to offer. If the new technology just isn?t what we thought it would be, we can throw it into the closet with our laser discs, HDDVD?s, and have a nostalgia party. Isn?t this what DJ Tech Tools is all about anyway?

A device with a ton of motorised stiff fibreoptical cables for each pixel would be pretty damn cool, so the device moves with your touch and has real haptic feedback. So you push on a fader in one direction it would sense which way you are pushing and lower the optic cables below your finger and raise the ones in front of your finger giving the illusion of real movement – this would also be mega customisable.

I believe this is a long time off so i will keep dreaming.

Hey Ean… Like you say, I agree that there are a whole bunch of stuff on touch screen that really don’t seem that interesting or encouraging to say the least to try out… Yet, I dunno if you or the rest of the readers have checked out the Reactable. I really don’t know if it’s out for sale, but there are a few videos of Bjork, Radiohead and David Bowie using them at live concerts… I’ll leave the link for the search of this videos in youtube, so you can check it out. In my opinion, this is the very least intriguing enough for me to try to get a hold of one of these babies…. enjoy http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=reactable&search_type=

You know, the real piece of work will be nanotechnology paired with thouc-senitive displays. Nanotech for tactile feedback and display for reconfigurable (self built) dj interface.
Not just that people will use thiese touch-things but there will probably be a good spot for graphical interface designers to make money on desinging the nice and good interface for the personal use.(hope u got the point)
