Logo Contest

The Final Round!

In round 2 everyone really stepped up the game and came back with better and more polished ideas. Several people were working together, pooling ideas and integrating each others concepts to create a better logo. Its really hard to say, they are all very good, but which one do you think best represents Dj Tech Tools?

These finalists are the re-vamped versions of the top 3 logos from the first round and 1 late comer which due to his efforts should be included. Midian and I joined forces to merge my original concept with his great turntable/hard drive idea.

Once again vote for your favorite Logo in the forum but remember the logo should have the following qualities:

Readable

Recognizable

Simple

oh- and look good on a t-shirt :-)

    Yeah, gotta go with #3
    Clear, clean, and un-cluttered.

As a graphic designer myself, #3 wins the critique.

They all seem a little TOO busy for what a Brand Logo Should be. Too much going on. If I had any more time….I’d actually try to take a stab at this. but. my advice is to simplify even more.

In addition, the type faces all seem to be the same too. change that up a bit too. there are other techno futuristic typefaces out there to choose from. the T’s in #3 look like too much like c’s

1 or 4a are the strongest with what’s presented. but I think there could be another concept could be thrown in.

    my 2 cents. bb?

I sorta think they’re all trying to do too much :(

If you could get the harddrive one with cleaner lines, I would choose that.

#3 because its simplistic and does not draw the eye away from its purpose.
    I think its justified!

its TT not CC, thanks for this you have highlighted that it could be misconstrued, there’s now a corrected version in the forum post.

Ummm..I saw your corrected post…Now it looks like, half TT and half LL…You didn’t solve the problem, I think you made it worse.
Props go to 1,2,4 logos for being creative…4 looks like it was typed and added a few circles and and a few ovals.

i agree with benny blanco. logo must be simple but it need to represent product. this logos are very complex and people will not recongnize it.

It has exactly what “DJ Tech(nology) Tools is all about…I DJ off of a hard drive..so I think it is a perfect pic for the subject.

Dont you guys think the imagery connected with #1 (i.e. Turntable Vs. Hard drive) is
    A: completely perfect

B: would make great T-shirts, stickers and so on?

Personally, I would kill to have a T -shirt like that. it would be rad!

I’m undecided.. I really like the hard drive on #1 but also the big DJTT tag on #3 a combination would be goood!

#2 & #4 suck big time for understanding what they mean

I’d agree, but it’s gonna look kinda funny and out of place in a few years as solid state disks more commonly start replacing traditional hard drives. I like #4 personally

I think the hard drive not only on this site, but t-shirts, would make a statement to all those cd dj’s and record djs. It lets them know that we are here to take over. My files are wav’s as are cd’s and vinyl, but thehard drive fits in your bag easily. It is like having an 80’s phone, now!

I feel the same way. We are in the world of the digital turntable and the hard drive is a ubiquitous symbol for that.

Ean, I totally think #1 is strongest, too. Aesthetically, it feels most in the spirit of the site. And the hard drive is something that’d translate nicely to t-shirts, like an in-joke.

    #1: The Choice of Editors… apparently. :)

No reason the winner can’t go through more iterations, too.

And, of course, hard drives also must be the new soul of music if Matthew Dear got his stolen in the middle of a set..

Is it still a contest when the website ownereditor gave his own opinion/influence? Or this is just like “make me a free logo to choose”? Just wondering…

I love all the entrys, I think they are great and really well done. everyone, including myself, has contributed to this because they love the site and the community we have built. Personally, we have already paid several people to develop logos on our own. The community thought they could come up with some better ideas so I made it public. now its in the public domain and everyone cane express their own opinions as they see fit. Does anyone else see a problem with that?

This is the strangest competition I’ve ever seen! IMO the forum poll results look kinda fishy (shame on anyone who might be fixing them)!!!!!! and because ‘the management’ have made their opinion public on who should win, its kinda spoilt the fun of what was to be an interesting race even if they didn’t end up using the final logo. When does this end so we can get back some normaility to DJTT instead of bitchin about bullshit logos and is there even a prize or is it just for like the kudos FFS?

Hard Drive Hockey…. is what it really is.

But, is even the icon of the hard drive almost outdated, with solid state flash storage in a big way just on the horizon? Hard Drives, as disc platters is almost as retro as Vinyl, in our chapter of Digital DJ’ing.

Also, I’m not so sure the turntable/or disc icon is necessarily, the best vehicle/icon for the site, because so many people use so much more than the traditional turntables to manipulate digital audio files. The whole Controllerism buzzword that has been pushed here, makes me think of all the other alternate controllers and Mods people do on their own, in the DIY way…. to make them unique in their performances.

Just another nugget to chew on. I know you want to get the logo thing done and sorted… but… have we thought it all the way through yet?

Yeah, I think the hard drive would be a cool DJTT shirt for now, though in a few years there would have to be another contest for a new logo. Maybe it shoulda, woulda, coulda been a t-shirt contest instead of a logo for the site. No one will ever agree on one true DJTT logo. I had fun making #4, so hey I tried…Let’s pick a winner and move on with the cool tutorials and dj tech info.

Question to Ean: Can the logo runner up’s get a free t-shirt or a little somtin, somtin for their efforts??????????

Ean should be the one ultimately be deciding what the logo should be, regardless of any vote here. This is HIS baby. It’s a brand identity he’s trying to get created (at least i’d hope that’s what he’s going for).

    Suggestion for the shirt:
The DJTT hard drive logo in front, and the midian deconstruction of the hard drive on the back of the shirt..That would be sweet!

The first design is good. But all of these look cluttered when it comes to the font.
